The annual Google Cloud Next event was held again this year on April 9-11 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas, United States. This annual event showcased the latest products and innovations from Google Cloud, including various contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that can transform various business sectors.
Some of the innovations on display include:
- Gemini is coming to Google Chat, as an AI-powered personal assistant to summarize conversations, answer questions, and more (in preview). By using a large language model, Gmail can now block 20% more spam and evaluate 1,000 times more spam reported by users every day.
- Voice prompting and instant polish in Gmail allow users to easily change the voice instructions in Help Me Write and turn simple notes into complete emails with just one click.
- The new table feature in Sheets formats and organizes data with a sleek design and a range of new building blocks, from project management to event planning templates with automatic alerts based on custom triggers such as field status changes. This feature will be available in the coming weeks.
- The tab feature in Docs lets you organize information in one document rather than linking to multiple documents or searching through Drive. This feature will be available in the coming weeks.
- Vertex AI has expanded grounding capabilities, including the ability to direct responses directly with Google Search (in preview).
- Vertex AI Prompt Management, helping teams improve performance quickly (in preview).
- Gemini 1.5 Pro is now available on Vertex AI, delivering the largest window of context for developers.
LLM Gemini 1.5 Pro is also promised to have higher efficiency and lower computing requirements. Using a large language model (LLM), Gemini 1.5 is designed to accept 1 million tokens a day, so it can process more queries.
This model is smarter at processing text, images, video, audio and code. This platform is claimed to have a better understanding of context and is able to speak like a human. In one request, the Gemini 1.5 Pro can process more than 700,000 words, an hour of video, 11 hours of audio, and more than 30,000 lines of code.
