Scientists created a replica of a giant bee robot called BionicBee. This robot is capable of demonstrating autonomous flight in group formation.
Each BionicBee is equipped with a GPS system inside, which allows communication and sharing of position information with other robotic bees to maintain formation and avoid collisions.
Inside the BionicBee’s body is a beating wing mechanism as well as components that make the wings pulse to mimic the way a real bee navigates.
BionicBee is able to fly autonomously in group formations, mimicking the behavior of real bees when flying in colonies. BionicBee is also the smallest flying object that Festo has managed to create so far.
